We meet at various venues in the Flint/Lansing area. Check our Rehearsals/Gigs page to find out where we will meet next. Bass clef reading is always part of our on-going practice, as we make a habit of giving each member some high and some low parts by trading music during the rehearsals. We, however, don't ask any member to read music that they can't handle.
Many of us are hobbiests, others are band/orchestra directors, free lancers, private horn instructors, and college music students. Any skill level is welcome.
On February 16, 2011 we had 10 members attend. Listen to a sound file on our Music page.
We met at MSU in E.Lansing on March 22, 2011. Nine of us rehearsed octets with Mike Steele hosting the event. We would have had more attending, but the weather was terrible that evening. We have over 50 horn players on our mailing list. Let us know if you'd like to take part sometime. We started meeting as a quartet several years ago on a weekly basis for a couple years and performed in the Flint, Grand Blanc area. This may happen again in the furture. Several of us are members of the IHS and attend symposiums when we are able. We bring back new music from these events for our library. Our next meeting is scheduled for May 4, 2013 at Saginaw Valley State University band room [Arbury 102]. Time will be 4:00 p.m. 'til 6:00 p.m.. Several of us plan to go to Panda House in Saginaw for dinner and then to the SBSO concert at the Temple Theatre on Washington St. in Saginaw. Eight of us plan to attend and any others are welcome - the more the better!
